Part of the jaw of a Mytamyndon* measuring ± 16 x 9 cm. The teeth are perfectly preserved.
*Its appearance was similar to that of a hippopotamus, although it is closer related to rhinoceroses ("swamp rhinos")
It is considered a semi-aquatic animal. Unlike modern rhinos, Metamynodon had square toes on its front paws.
Its eyes were located at the highest part of its skull, suggesting that it could see while semi-submerged in water.
