Pathological teeth of giant mackerel shark
Otodus obliquus (Agassiz, 1843)
Lot of two teeth showing a severe pathology. The teeth is 100% complete, it does not have any restoration or reparation. It is exceptionally perfect. The tooth on the left measures 3.1 cm high x 2.1 cm wide. The tooth on the right is 4.5 cm high x 3 cm wide.
Pathological teeth are formed by either disease or deformity of the sharks jawline, where the teeth form to adjust to the intrusion. They are among the most rare and unusual teeth known and these from Morocco are some of the best quality known from all over the world.
