Mineralogy, they are a type of natural glass formed at high temperatures called lechatelierite.
"The latest analyses show that it is a tektite, formed by the impact of a meteorite that melted sands rich in calcium and magnesium, hence its color. Bubbles with elements typical of meteorites have been found inside the Libianite, which were trapped in the impact and fusion process. The Libianite does not have the typical flight structures of tektites, but it has preserved the regmaglyphs and erosion lines from having been buried in the sand.
The quality of the Libyan glass is determined in order of importance by the intensity of color, transparency,
smoothness of shapes and size. This material is very special and rare."
