* It is a natural glass produced by the impact of meteorites and is located south of Queenstown on the West Coast, Tasmania. It takes its name from Mount Darwin, in the Cordillera of the West Coast, where it was found the first time. It later gave its name to Lake Darwin, a crater of a probable impact of a meteorite. The crystal is produced with buried quartzite fragments Under the peat and the ground.
