- Variety of clinochlore that has a very particular optical effect, a precious cat's eye iridescence produced by the inclusions of small mica crystals. Seraphinite is a semi-precious stone whose name comes from the Greek word "seraph", which refers to a celestial being with three pairs of wings, with which it is related due to the feathery appearance of the fibers of the stone. This crystal typically occurs in hues ranging from dark gold (golden seraphinite) to dark green and gray.
