Spinosaurus (scientific name Spinosaurus, from the Greek for "spine reptile") was a megalosauroid theropod dinosaur that inhabited North Africa in the mid-Cretaceous (in the Cenomanian period,
between 95 and 93 million years ago). It was found in Niger, Egypt, and Morocco.
Spinosaurus belonged to the Spinosauridae family and was closely related to Baryonyx, Suchomimus, and Irritator.
