Final cut of the meteorite of 5.81 grams and 4.3 x 2 cm. It is delivered with box, classification and certificate.

Algeria,2021

Classification: Carbonaceous Chondrite (CV3)

Petrography: (J. Gattacceca, CEREGE) Chondrite with chondrules in mm and CAI set in an abundant fine-grained iron-rich matrix. Almost all of the primary opaques have been lost due to terrestrial weathering.

Geochemistry: Olivine Fa15.6 ± 17.3, range Fa1.1-47.5 (n = 7). Ca-pyroxene Fs1.1Wo30.0 (n = 1). Matrix defocused analysis: FeO 35.0 wt%, analytical total 87.7 wt%.

  • CV3 chondrites are famous for their CAIs (Calcium Aluminum Inclusions) being in general the oldest materials in the solar system, with more than 4700 million years, that is, the first materials that solidified in the solar nebula, and being therefore, one of the oldest materials ever described and found.

In addition, CV3 chondrites are rich in amino acids and water, which is why they are one of the basic pillars on which the theory that the seeds of life could reach Earth with this type of meteorite is based.
